April

Man April is such a weird month.

First it's snowing, then it's 80 degrees. Then it rains, and then it snows again.

It's springtime, the beginning of a new year. Flowers are opening up, plants are regaining life, and people are emerging from a winter-long hibernation. Newness is in the air. Then it's the end of the school year. Finals come, people stress, finals go. Roommates leave, and replacements come. There's people loading up their entire lives into the back seat of a 4 door sedan of some kind to ride off into the sunset for the summer. Memories settle in the dust with the rocks sprayed out the back end of their tires.

Ex boyfriends become human again. Selective memories are a must when it comes to thinking about past flames. Cuddling up to a good movie, or three, or 8... becomes the norm until the sharp reminder of summer plans bring reality to a focus. One night stands are hoped for, and consistently shot down. Womanizers are on the prowl while the gentlemen have gone to visit their families for the happy months of the year.

Old acquaintances find their lives in another, and lose their lives in the blare of a car horn.

I find myself wanting my cake, and to eat it to. Work, friends, dating, moving.

Parties come and go, and the hope for continued friendships ride on a new found self confidence that is finally standing on it's own two feet. Dependence and trust in others is on the rise, but skepticism still pulls away to corners that show safety.

The opposition:
The man in my life remains steadfast in his place in my life. He will never leave me, and promises to follow where I lead. Consistency is nice.
