Nick and I are both just kinda under the weather today. I think we've just overdone it for 2 weeks straight working on the fence, and it caught up with us at the same time.
Yesterday (while I still felt fine) they called and asked if I could come in to meet with someone at 10:30 Sunday morning. I consented.
Today, I decided I could handle the interview, but that I wasn't going to be going to the regular meetings. That way they could still get their paperwork figured out for whatever they needed to talk to me about. And, that meant I could give the Relief Society Binder with the roll in it to someone. Win-win, right?
Problem is, when I got there, they asked me to be the sacrament meeting piano substitute. I told them that would scare me out of my mind, but that I'd do it if they needed me to.
Then, they said: "The regular player might be here, or she might be gone. And if she's gone, she might or might not have gotten a sub. Can you play today?"
Oh gosh.
So... after a quick assessment of my sore throat's level of discomfort, I explained that we were both just not feeling well, and that we weren't planning on coming. But, if they needed me, I said I would come just for sacrament meeting and play.
>insert awkwardness here<
"You're sick, but you still came in for your interview? What a trooper."
>insert me trying to figure out if that was a compliment or a "Yeah, right, that's what my kids do when they find out they have to go to the dentist. here.<
After some discussion, they decided they'd be able to find someone else and sent me home. So now I feel like a slacker and a faker.
Yep. That's me. The big. fat. faker.
Oh well, I guess you can't win them all.
Only bonus for the day?
Zooey seems to get that we're both not feeling well, and she's been SUPER cuddly.
Also, now I want chicken. Curse you, post title!

You are so not a faker, but maybe a chicken baker! Chicken sounds really good right now, but I have to go back to church. I came home because of a head ache (for some reason, I don't feel comfortable taking my excederine with Dr. Pepper at church) and I was having such a fun time talking to others that I'd missed half of Sunday school anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo, you are home for a better reason than me for my sluffing. I need to leave now, so I don't miss relief society! Get feeling better and YAY for your fence!
Oh phssssh. I don't think the Bishop thinks that way!!! I think you are great for even going to the meeting! But, I guess I am not one to talk. Gracie had a fever (that turned into a monster fever onMonday) so we stayed home. But I think you're safe :D and YAAAAAAAAAAY for your FENCE. So excited for you <3
