Jones Lid

So. Over the past few months I have had the opportunity to drink a few Jones Sodas. For those of you that don't know, the lids on these drinks come with words inscribed on the inner side. Last semester, a friend of mine bought me a 4-pack of Jones Soda. Each and every one of the lids came true within a short period of time. Ever since then, with the exception of the "You just saved a child's eyesight" lids, every lid I've had has come true. I drank one a few days ago that said "A happy event will take place shortly in your home" and it did. This brings me to the reason for this post. I had a mini girls night with Brittany and Lauren, and I bought a Jones at the store. The lid said "Write a poem". While I have never been one for poetry, I fear the consequences of ignoring the command.

Futures

Past moments, riddled with holes
Memories forgotten by no happenstance
Leave countless open-ended questions
As across the mind they dance

Parts of speech, behaviours learned
Smiles, frowns, laughs and cries
Nights of revelrly, days of sobriety
Call out softly as the night sighs

Gone forever? Nay, not so
Once forgotten, tucked and hid away
It takes only a single, solitary instance
To bring back to the light of day

Shadows of then and choices of now
Layer upon layer of a growing existance
March steadfastly into the future
Never faltering, into the distance
