Construction Continues

It's so fun to go over to our house every day and see what's new. Here's an update on the goings-on!*

First, we got a finished roof! With the shingles up, it finally stopped raining inside!

Unfortunately, without doors and windows to protect it, our house has seen some rather strange visitors!

A silver vent monster moved into our rafters
We think this might be its mate. Awkward.

We saw some HVAC cronies that love death metal.
And we really don't know what to think of this.

The hubster also paid a visit to the house. He went back to add a bit more to his wiring project, so I got to take a picture of him working after all!

It's not fantastic... but it still counts!

Even with all that's going on, I was still able to pick out a favorite part. Here's what I'm most excited about!

That closet has been framed 3 times now. (I hope our contractor doesn't hate us!) If you look closely, you can see the lines on the floor from previous framing. This final product has easily twice the storage, and I'm so excited about it!

I'm going to get my pantry after all! *happy dance*

Oh, and did I mention we got WINDOWS over the weekend while we were gone?!

I talked with our builder today, and he said the stucco goes up next week! I am SO NERVOUS about it! I think I'm driving the hubster crazy telling him 5 times a day how nervous I am. We picked a custom color from paint swatches, so they're going to match the stucco to the color we chose. I'm really excited and really scared to see how turns out!

Also, one more thing. This house has, at times, brought my inner packrat to the surface. They have a giant scrap pile in front of our house, and the builder has said we can have what we want from the pile.

There are so many chunks of wood, particle board, and cement that I feel like I should just take it all and save it for future projects. I've had to remind myself that taking those things would mean storing them until they were used, which has thus far saved me from creating a large pile of wood at the in-laws house.

But you have to admit... this pile of stuff is just begging to be pinterested.

*Random fact-of-the-day: I discovered that I did not make up "goings-on", and it is not incorrect.  It's in the dictionary.  In this particular instance, the first definition was the intention (although, the second could apply to some of the visitors).
