Resurrection Rolls

Another Pinterest attempt, just in time for Easter!
Resurrection Rolls

According to the website, you can teach about the resurrection and eat yummy food... all at the same time!

What You Need:

8 large marshmallows
1 pkg crescent rolls
melted butter
cinnamon-sugar

What You Do:

Open the crescent roll package without cringing. (I can't do it, can you?)

Separate and lay out each of the 8 triangles.

Dip a marshmallow (represents Christ) in the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon-sugar. This represents the oils and spices used to anoint Christ's body.

Wrap the marshmallow with a crescent roll triangle. Make sure the marshmallow is completely covered, and that all of the seams are tightly sealed. The crescent roll represents the tomb.

Bake the rolls according to the directions on the can.

When they are finished, the marshmallow will have vanished, leaving an empty "tomb".

Kinda cool!

My Experience:

These are so cool!

I love that the recipe is small. It's nice to not end up with enough dessert for a dozen people after trying a new recipe, especially since it's just the me and the hubster batting clean up!

They're also really easy and fast to make. Bonus!

I got to thinking, and ended up taking the analogy a little farther. I decided you could also teach that the marshmallows are white, which represents Christ's purity. And that the time in the oven represents the three days before he was resurrected.

I just ran across one problem.

Apparently I'm not very good at completely sealing the dough. *insert embarrassed becca here*

It was a good thing the hubster was there when I took them out. I needed a hug when I saw that not a single one was sealed right!

In spite of the messiness, they still turned out to be delicious! (which is the reason I'm putting it in "the success stories" instead of "the redeemables")

Just make sure you seal the dough better than I did, or you might have a hard time coming up with a way to tie the oozing melty marshmallow goo into the storyline!

  1. We made these last year and put them in muffin tins to bake...it left all of the gooey stuff at the bottom of the roll. Either way, they were good!
