No... not this can can.

Silly. It's this kind!
In my short time here at the in-laws, I've already been able to help with some canning!
Yes. I am excited about this. I don't care if that's weird. I like canning, okay?
I get a call through our "front door"... "Becca? When you get a second I need your help with something."
So I head on upstairs, and Momma Dennis half sheepishly and half mischievously points to 2 boxes containing 80 pounds of chicken.
So we get to work.
This is probably common knowledge and I somehow just missed the memo; but, I thought using kitchen shears instead of a knife was the most ingenious thing ever. It made me want to go out and buy 3 pair for my own kitchen. (2 more months!)

They graciously took a picture of me while I was talking. And since the
hubster and Momma Dennis both thought it was funny, I figured you might,
too.

Every time you hear a can "pop", it's the sound of VICTORY!
So here's our finished cans. :)
We also did a bunch of freezer corn! Grandpa Dennis came out and helped us cut all the corn off the cob, which was awesome. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of that part. Which stinks. But he was there, trust me. And he rocked that corn. It was awesome.

A true sign that Grandpa's been here.

Yummy corn!!

Pardon the terrible lighting. I had corn on my hands, so speed was the main requirement for this photo shoot.
PS If you're interested in either of these recipes, let me know. I'll
see if I can get them from Momma Dennis and send them your way! The chicken is so
perfect for sandwiches, salads, or soup year round, and the corn is so sweet. It's delicious! (I ate a bit more than I should have while we were putting it in the bags.)
I'm SO anxious to have my own kitchen and pantry again! I can't wait to fill my own freezer and food storage with lots of yummy things! :D
